The Research Phase
We started with a clean sheet of paper. We spent months researching the standards set by the NHBC and checking the building code sill flashing regulations. We studied laboratory testing data from the ICF industry to understand how wind and rain interact with external insulation layers.
Next: we compiled the physical dimensions. We pulled block data directly from NSAI certificates and manufacturer datasheets. We mapped every Irish variant to understand the exact offsets between the concrete core and the outer insulation face.
Putting It in Front of the Trade
We did not assume we knew everything. Once we had our initial section drawings, we put them in front of experienced ICF installers. These were the people who handle these profiles on site every day.
They picked holes in the initial sketches. They pointed out that a high upstand would block the window frame drainage chambers. They showed us where water would collect if the DPC routes were not trimmed flush. They helped us understand that a flat landing was needed to keep the cill steady on the concrete core.
We listened. We built every correction directly into the drawing. We added weep holes to drain the frame pockets. We lowered the welded upstands to 12mm. We updated the DPC route to trim clean at the finished render face.
The Platform Integration
Once the detail was proven, manufacturers came on board. We integrated their specific ICF block dimensions directly into our 3D configurator app. Contractors could now select the exact brand they were building with and watch the cill template adjust automatically.
This is a supply-only service. We do not claim manufacturer verification that has not been confirmed in writing. Instead, we provide the raw dimension data and let the site teams order with total clarity.
The Detail is Never Finished
This design is a living document. It is not finished, and it never will be. Whenever a fitter finds a better way to seal a corner or prep an opening, we review it. If it works, we update the canonical drawing and date the revision in public.
We invite you to pick at it. If you see a way to improve the detail, email our team.
